If you thought you knew the story of 'The Princess and The Pea,' you may be in for a walloping surprise! Did you know, for instance, that Princess Winnifred actually swam the moat to reach Prince Dauntless the Drab? Or that it may not have been the pea at all that caused the princess a sleepless night? Carried on a wave of beguiling songs, by turns hilarious and raucous, romantic and melodic, this rollicking spin on the familiar classic of royal courtship and comeuppance provides for some side-splitting shenanigans. Chances are, you'll never look at fairy tales quite the same way again.
Our Director will be the Fabulous Tammy Kai Frazier. Ms. Frazier has been a Theatre Arts teacher for 20 years. She took a break from teaching to work at the Sheldon Vexler Theatre for ten years as a Children's Theatre producer and director. She returned to teaching five years ago, this time at the middle school level. Tammy loves teaching children. She believes that all children are creative and talented in their own ways. She uses theatre as a tool to harness that creativity and talent to enhance children's self-esteem, build their confidence, and teach them the value of teamwork and responsibility. She is honored to be asked to direct for the Jr. Players. Naomi Phillips will be our wonderful choreographer and musical director. Ms. Phillips started in the performance world at 4 years, with the family singers. She continued through College with Musical Theatre and has been in several Musicals and Dramas in Austin, Houston, and San Antonio. She performed in Vexler Children's Theatre for 10 years. Recently, she has costumed and choreographed shows for NEISD and other Theatres in San Antonio and Austin. For the past 6 years Naomi has been the Artistic Director for the S.T.A.G.E. Elfs in Bulverde. She is very excited to work on this project with Tammy Frazier for the Jr. Players!! |
